What are the symptoms of mold exposure?
The A/C in my apartment was leaking because the drain pipe in the pan was clogged with rust. The maintenance team came out twice during the 1.5 month it was leaking and would unclog the drain and then it would just get clogged up again.
So they finally came out like last week and fixed the leak for good but the carpet around the AC was SOAKED ALL THE TIME. I would extract the water with my carpet shampooer from the carpet but I don’t think it got all the water from the pad underneath the carpet and then between the pad and the concrete slab.
They had a carpet cleaning company come out and dry up the water and replace the pad.
They put a strong fan underneath the carpet to try and dry the slab underneath which made it seem like it was blowing all kinds of shit in the air from the carpet…including mold or mildew that may have formed underneath from the leak. Ever since then, I have woken up with a minor headache, today’s headache is basically a little short of a migraine.
Runny nose, itchy eyes and nose, a little cough and some sneezing.
AND A TON OF PRESSURE on my head I guess from the allergies and sinuses. I am allergic to any and everything almost.
I went to the dr. on Thursday and he told me that I was suffering allergies and sinusitis.
Do these things sound like like the symptoms of mold/mildew exposure?? I feel awful whenever I wake up and then it starts going away after I get to work. Well since today is Saturday, I am off work and I am at home and I feel HORRIBLE!!!
Should I go and get a mold detector from Home Depot and check it out and then ask for them to treat it???
Hi Rhea,
No need to get the home depot thing, i can tell you right now that the symptoms your talking about are a result of toxic mold exposure. Is ther any mold in your home or in the a/c unit or growing someplace else in your home now? if not it could be the toxic spores are still hanging around. please def tell your landlord that your feeling very sick and see if he can send someone else to check for mold growing in the entire house. ofcourse its best just to get out of the home that is making you sick. the symptoms of toxic mold exposure are headaches, respiratory distress often misdiagnosed for asthma, severe fatigue, nausea, vertigo, slurred speech, memory loss and the list goes on and on

Yes, I got that a couple months ago, except I was also throwing up and had the sh*ts. My face and lips swelled up too and I had to get an allergy shot.
What you describe sounds exactly like mold poisoning. They should replace the carpet, but you might want to consider just moving out. The spores have been blowing around the apartment and may have settled, so you could have mold starting to grow in the A/C ducts or god knows where.
In the meantime, try getting an air purifier. It helped me a lot. I got one with UV rays or whatever inside it and it kills microorganisms.
