I am a pet lover , and i don’t want anything tieing me down from having any kind of pet, if i take allergy medicine , will the symptoms go away ?

oh and i also have asthma

It really depends on the severity of the allergy. There are some great products that you can use to treat your environment and the pet and you may not need any meds at all. We’ve had great luck in taking care of my husband’s cat allergy and he never takes medicine.

1. Allerpet/C for cats or Alerpet/D for dogs-apply topically once a week and allergens are neutralized

2. Anti Allergen Solution – spry on upholstered furniture, carptes, curtains and mix with floor cleaning solution to neutralize allergens already present.

You may also want to invest in a good HEPA air purifier or HEPA vacuum cleaner. They can filter any allergens out of the air as you live and clean. Links are below.

Would a long haired Chihuahua be hard on pet allergies?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: pet allergy

I want my grandma to have a dog, but she has pet allergies. Cats, bad, dogs, not too bad. She lives alone in a building that allows small dogs. I want her to find something cute. I know Chihuahuas are usually non-allergy dogs, but would a long haired Chihuahua be ok? If not, please will you give me some other ideas? Thanks!

i would say a short haired chihuahua just becuase not as much pollen and dirt can get in their hair.

Allergy serum injections for allergic pets? Did it work for your pet?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: pet allergy

I am a cvt who has tried everything to treat my girls severe allergies. We just started allergy injections which is the last and best option to treat such severe allergies.
Anyone have success stories?

I’ve never personally had a dog on them, but I give injections to many dogs that are on the VARL allergy serum, and the dogs do FANTASTIC! They literally have no problems with their allergies anymore and have been completely weaned off of allergy relief medication.

What is a good allergy medication for pet and seasonal allergies?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: pet allergy

Hello i recently purchased a chinchilla and i seem to notice a few slight allergies to him and his hay and dust. I am also having seasonal allergies at the same time so i am unsure whats actually causing it him or the world. Is there one medication that works for all of the above? I am not allergic to dogs i have two of those no problem but ever since moving from california to new hampshire i am just drowning in allergies.

Try Zyrtec or Claritin. They can both be purchased over the counter at your local grocery store.

What are the signs of you having a pet allergy?

itchy, watery eyes, nasal congestion, sneezing…if it starts when you are around an animal… and then is relieved when you are away from it…there is a good chance that you have an allergy. Allergy symptoms can vary in people. Some people can have very serious reactions like difficulty breathing. Going to an allergist will help you find out if you are truely allergic.

how can i cure my allergy with my pet cat?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: pet allergy

I have Persian for past 6 years. In the 1st 3 years i was ok with it…but recently i have become allergic. My eyes swell up and become and itchy and i get bad sneezing and sinus attacks. Please tell me why this happened suddenly. I can i co exist with my cat. I love my pet very much.

I have allergies to cats and own two Persians myself. The best thing you can do is get rid of the cat, but who are we kidding? I would never do that and doubt you would too. So realistically you need to get rid of the source of the allergy. More likely than not you are allergic to the protein in their saliva. Cats are constantly grooming themselves. The protein in their saliva gets attached to their skin/fur and then once dry becomes airborne. First thing to do is bathe your cats regularly. I have done it with both of my cats since they were kittens. If you have never bathed them it could be challenging. I highly recommend holding their two front paws together when dipping them into the water receptacle (sink or bathtub) to avoid getting scratched. Don’t let them move towards you because they will try to jump onto you to escape and will use their claws to hold on (through your skin!) Secondly you need to get rid of the environmental problems. Vacuum often (a couple times a week). Change your bedding frequently. I cover things that my cats sit on regularly with something (towel or sheet) that I can wash in the laundry. This helps to capture deposits of their hair and remove it from the environment. Then there are prescriptions you can take yourself. Allegra or other antihistamines, eyedrops (I have never used them but just heard about them myself), and also flushing out your sinuses with saline solution. Good luck to you!
