hay fever
We have a lovely large garden in France (where we live) and once a year family come to visit, but our poor niece suffers terribly from hay fever, so cannot get much pleasure from being here!
My husband is keen to create a "friendly" garden especially for her, but cannot find the information anywhere, but knows there are some.
Can anyone help?

hay fever
I suffer from hay fever quite badly, and know the worst times for hay fever is between early June and early August.
But what is the earliest possible time of the year that grass pollen becomes airborne, and what is the latest possible time of the year that it vanishes, in the London area?
Would like to know, so I can start taking remedies for it as early as possible.
If you are allergic to grass pollen the peak period is mid to late May until about the middle of July. If you are also allergic to tree or flower pollen you will get some degree of allergic reaction from March to September, much reduced during periods of wet weather

Is it possible to get hay fever at this time of year.Think I’ve got it.Must have because I have Antihistamines and it goes away when I take them.I have always associated hay fever with the earlier months of the year.
It is. I’ve suffered from hay fever for many years, quite badly too. I have the symptoms for half the year (April – September) with it being worse in and around June.
The main pollen that 90% of hay fever sufferers are sensitive too is grass pollen with most sufferers exclusively allergic to this pollen. Some sufferers (15-20%) are also allergic to certain tree pollens. These different pollens are airborne at different times of the year for different periods so you may suffer at different times of the year to someone else with hay fever.
Bottom line is, as long as the grass grows, no one with hay fever is safe!

my hay fever is throughout the year and i have totally had it. my asthma i’ve had for 12 years it hurts to do some stuff for p.e. that i don’t like but i have to do anyway in order to get a good grade.
i also take zyrtec and flonase. my inhaler isn’t strong enough. i take my inhaler to class too. they said i might have to get a steam mask but that thing is too heavy to take to school.
Asthma is usually improved by regular exercise. But you have to plan for it. Use the inhaler right before PE class starts, even if you don’t have an attack yet. Take it with you so you can use it again at the first sign of chest tightness.
Ask your doctor if there isn’t something else s/he can give you such as a brief course of steroid inhaler until your asthma cools down a little bit.
Do you take something like claritin every day? If you have hay fever every day then you should. Ask your doc which one it should be, and get a nasal wash such as "Simply Saline" to keep your sinuses from getting infected because of the drying effect of antihistamines. Befriend the steam room of your local gym also. Ask mom to take you in because you might have an attack in there. Best to go with someone who can help if..
If you feel best right after your shower, consider investing in a Vicks personal steamer or just learn the trick of "steaming your head" over a pot of hot water or tea. This is very helpful in the winter when the humidity level drops.
Put a few drops of eucalyptus oil on a handkerchief and sniff it. Wierd, but it works.

i am 14 years old and i have really bad hay fever and i would like to know some tips on how to prevent hay fever without using any medicine. I have try ed every medicine there is to offer for hay fever but none of them seem to work. I am going to the doctor in a week or so to get a prescription for a stronger medicine but in the mean time i would like some tips on how to reduce the symptoms of hay fever. If i get some good answers that would be great thanks.
Drinking water helps, if you have some eucalyptus oil or vick’s then breathing in the vapor through the nose can alleviate some of the congestion (don’t drink it or anything it’s toxic).

hay fever
Hey guys, yesterday i received some quite damaging news. Im not allowed to serve in the RAF as a pilot, whether it be transport or front-line jets, as I suffer from hay fever around June. I was wondering is it a similar case for the civilian world. Also, if you could suggest another route in to flying, or even a route into the civilian world of flying if the hay fever wouldn’t be an issue. Finally, going back to the RAF, as I cant become a pilot, would any of you guys suggest becoming an aircraft engineer or air traffic controller with them? Cheers.
Whilst it is true that you are unable to be a pilot in the RAF with hay-fever, it shouldn’t restrict you at all from gaining a civilian licence.
You can find full medical requirements for the civilian medical certificates on the CAA website (see link).

hay fever
A former NY resident, I relocated many years ago, to a place where I’m no longer bothered by hay fever. I’m now planning to return for vacation, but I can’t recall the dates of the fall ragweed season, which I need to avoid. I also have a lesser allergy to timothy pollen, so those dates are of interest too.
the usual peak dispersal period for Ragweed is mid-August to mid-September
