Can fears and phobias be linked to a food allergy/intolerance?

Can fears and phobias be linked to a food allergy/intolerance?, what more can I say?

Absolutely. Celiac disease causes anxiety and depression. Depression is actually the number one symptom. Fears and phobias are in there with anxiety. It’s an intolerance to gluten. Very very common in fact.

What to do about a possible food allergy?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: food allergy

Our APBT has allergies – she’s getting tests done in 10 days so we can figure out what it is that she’s allergic to. We’re picking up some medicine from the vet tomorrow. In the meantime, our vet advised us to try changing her food.

Is there a specific ingredient in dry dog food that causes the most allergies? Any ingredients I should avoid until I figure out what she’s allergic to?

She’s currently on Canidae All Life Stages – what should we try switching her to?

Any advice would be great.

I believe Canidae just changed their formulation. So that may be the cause. I had a dog with food allergies and I started out by using a food with as few ingredients as I could find such as fish and potato. I agree the protein needs to be from a source you have not used before such as venison, salmon, ostrich, etc. I also did not use a grain for starch, eliminating barley, corn, etc. Potatoes or peas were a good substitue for my dog. I allowed a 6-8 week trial before seeing results. Just my thoughts. Good luck

Can bone pain be a sign of a food allergy?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: food allergy

I am wondering if bone pain can be a sign of a food allergy? I know that I can not drink milk because it makes my stomach sick. Also chocolate makes it so I can not breathe so well, and it seems like my throat gets all thick. I still eat cheese, and yogurt though because they do not seem to make me sick. Whenever I eat them though, I get the worst pain in my bones, especially in my shoulder. It might be a coincidence, but I am just wondering if this could be a sign of an allergy?

allergic reactions often cause body swelling and inflammation so its entirely possible that you’d feel pain or arthritis type reactions to eating something you’re allergic to.

Milk may or may not be an allergen for you though. Its possible that it makes you sick due lactose intolerance. Cheese and yogurt would have less lactose in them, which may be why you tolerate them better.

It is possible though to have lactose intolerance and a milk allergy.

You may want to see an allergist to get tested. If it is an allergy, its better to know now.. so you can stay away from milk. If you’re allergic and keep eating it, the reactions would only get worse and may become life threatening at any moment.

Chocolate does sound like an allergen for you, so the chances of you having other allergies is greater.

What is the difference between being allergic to something and being very sensitive to it?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: allergic

The Dr told me I didn’t have any allergies but my eyes water and I sneeze a lot in cool weather(about the time of year between summer and winter) I get congested sometimes too.. but they say I am not allergic.
And the same with medicines. Some medicines will bother me but they say I am just sensitive to it and not allergic to it. What’s the difference?

when u are sensitive to something, it means that you ahev a slight reaction to that thing, although it’s not life threatening. and allergy is more serious, when you can’t be exposed to the thing no matter what and can be fatal. ♥b♥

Active ingredients / chemicals in antihistamines that stop a food allergy?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: food allergy

I take benedryll when I have a mild reaction to my food allergy.
I’m looking to try a liquid antihistamine to see if it works faster than chewing up a pill.
But I’m not sure what (type of) chemicals will work on a food allergy.
Most of the liquid antihistamines I found in the pharmacy say ‘non-drowsy’ and I know ‘non-drowsy’ pills won’t do anything for my food allergy.
What should I be looking for?

Liquid Benedryl is available. Shoppers Drug Mart markets a generic product similar to Benedryl with no added colours or alcohol specifically designed for children also(Life Brand)

What is the best allergy medicine to take?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: allergic

I have had a really bad allergy "attack" for the last 2 weeks. I have tried Allegra and Claritin, and my nose is still stuffed up to the point where I can barely breathe, my eyes are still watering, and my nose is continually running. It’s gross!! And my husband is a light sleeper and isn’t getting much sleep when I’m constantly waking up in the middle of the night blowing my nose. What can I take that works asap that I can get over the counter?

These are the best allergy medicines according to surveys and research.

-Claritin
-Zyrtec
-Benadryl
-Chlor-Trimeton
-Cortaid
-Visine-A
-Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride

But before taking any of those. Better consult a doctor first if it is safe for you.

What is your opinion about food allergy warnings?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: food allergy

I agree that people with food allergies should be warned, but I recently bought a jar of mustard and there was a warning on the label. Contains mustard. (!)
Yesterday I bought a packet of ‘instant’ mashed potato. There was a warning about the ingredients: May contain traces of milk. OK, fine for people who are lactose intolerant, but the instructions for reconstituting the flakes said I should add milk.

It seems an over-reaction to labelling requirements. It is possible that some of these foods are destined for countries in which there is an exaggerated risk of the manufacturer being sued. As for your instant mashed potato — if I were serving it to my son I would have to add soya milk or similar — if, that is, I took the risk of giving it to him at all.

Can food cause an allergy, runny eyes in dogs?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: food allergy

My dog has been having a problem lately with running eyes a crustiness in the corner of one eye. Took him to the vet and he got a shot and some eye cream. This morning i noticed that while the swelling had gone down in one eye, it had starting in the other eye.

My dog is basically an indoor dog, but we do live near lots of pollen. Could it be the pollen or possibly something else (like a food allergy- he is currently on IAMS mini chuncks which has recently changed their formula).

Food allergies are typically skin related, like they’ll develop hives, swollen noses, I’ve only ever seen one dog get watery eyes from a food allergy.

Most food allergies are based on corn, which is a common ingredient in commercial dog food, including Iams. I would switch to a corn free holistic dog food. (Maxximum, Timber Wolf, Orijen.)

The eye watering could be a problem because she’s a smaller dog, many dogs have over-active tear ducts, which causes watering and tear stains (poodles, yorkies, chi’s, malti’s).

Pollen could very well be your problem. Change the air filter in your home, so it will catch more unwanted air debris, keep windows closed (if you can help it), vacuum more often, bathe your dog more often too (pollen sticks to dogs fur, and when they scratch or lick, its released back into the air for them to breathe in). I don’t know if your weather station has this, but many places have allergy watches for how high of a pollen index there is, so you could keep her outside for shorter periods of time when there is a highter percentage of pollen.

Talk to your vet about allergen medication for your dog, here is a site with TONS of info on dog allergies which may help you out:
