How would you know if you are allergic to something but you don’t recognise

You don`t really know…if you don`t recognize.
If you get any bumbs (hives), swelling, itchy. stinging, anything different really. That`s how you would know. Otherwise you could go to the doctors and they would help you for sure.

Where can I get an Armstrong-style bracelet with medical alert information cheaply?

I want a simple latex bracelet (the popular stretchy wrist bands). I need penicillin allergy information on it, or one of those international alert symbols. It must be internationally understood. Links to websites are helpful!

That is where I got my son’s bracelets from. He is allergic to Tree nuts. They had the nylon sports type bracelets. I’m not sure about the stretchy kinds though.

Information about allergy testing?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: allergy information

Hi,
I have recently developed post nasal drip, and think it could be allergy related. I have never been allergic to anything before, so have no idea what is causing the problem. I think the allergy must just have developed out of nowhere.
Anyway, i really want to get to the bottom of this and want to get allergy tested. When you get allergy tested do they test you for possible allergy’s to everything that you may be exposed to? what if you’re allergic to something they don’t test you for?
Any information is appreciated,
thanks so much.

Keep in mind it also could be Non-allergic Rhinitis. If you go for allergy testing, ask for the list of things they tested you for.

is this a pet allergy?

i have an 8 month old baby who has always lived with a dog but has never really come into close proximity of it. I have a cocker spaniel with malts moderately and have recently purchased a beagle puppy.

Since my daughters birth she has had a pretty bad wheezy chest which she takes inhalers for and i do keep my house very clean but i am wondering if this could be linked to a pet allergy?

After spending maybe ten minutes with the cocker spaniel she has a running nose her usual wheezy chest and itchy eyes. She has all of the above symptoms with the beagle expect she gets what looks like a nettle rash all over the area where the dog has come into contact with her.

can you tell if this is an allergy with both or just one dog?

It certainly sounds to me like your baby is allergic to the dogs. In fact, the combination of runny nose, itchy eyes and skin reaction suggests it’s far from trivial, especially if she needs an inhaler. Being on long-term medication is not a good thing for anyone, but especially small children, so it really should be avoided if possible. Antihistamines, the usual anti-allergy medication, definitely should only be taken as long as absolutely necessary. And the big problem with allergies is that they are more likely to keep getting worse with continued exposure to the allergen, so it’s unlikely that she will just grow out of it.
Does the doctor who prescribed the inhaler know about the dogs? If he/she did, they might have made the same suggestion that I’m going to. Please bear in mind that this is my personal opinion:
You need to decide which is more important to you, your daughter or your dogs. You want your baby to be as healthy as possible and right now she isn’t. If she is allergic to them and you allow the allergy to escalate, it could make her very ill. In extreme cases allergies can kill.
