Information allergy is defined as (1) refusing to obtain key information needed to make a sound decision, or (2) ignoring important available information. The latter problem is epidemic in biomedical and epidemiologic research and in clinical practice.
Examples include ignoring some of the information in confounding variables that would explain away the effect of characteristics such as dietary habits, ignoring probabilities and “gray zones” in genomics and proteomics research, making arbitrary classifications of patients in such a way that leads to poor validation of gene and protein patterns, failure to grasp probabilitistic diagnosis and patient-specific costs of incorrect decisions, thus making arbitrary diagnoses and placing the analyst in the role of the bedside decision maker, classifying patient risk factors and biomarkers into arbitrary “high/low” groups, ignoring the full spectrum of values, touting the prognostic value of a new biomarker, ignoring basic clinical information that may be even more predictive, using weak and somewhat arbitrary clinical staging systems resulting from a fear of continuous measurements, and ignoring patient spectrum in estimating the benefit of a treatment.
Examples of such problems will be discussed, concluding with an examination of how information–phobic cardiac arrhythmia research contributed to the deaths of thousands of patients.

The first official trailer for Anaphylaxis, the new British film shot at Ealing Studios in London, England. World Premier at the 33rd Sao Paulo International Film Festival (Official Selection). Written and directed by Ayman Mokhtar. Starring Guy Defferary, Katia Winter, Jenna Brook and Frazer Douglas.
Anaphylaxis tells the story of a doctor allergic to the human touch who finds his salvation in writings tattooed on the body of a dead poet.
The film has a prosodic visual style, where shots follow certain durational rules to create a visual metrical rhythm (similar to that of poetry) for each scene in the film.

Will they ever be able to make them go away forever not like allergy medication but forever.
Allergies are a rather large problem in society. At some point, they will be addressed by science.
My brother is allergic to the proteins produced by cats. Perhaps for people suffering from pet allergies, science will alter the genes of animals to produce less, or no allergens, such as in the Russian Blue cat.
Well, if they start altering animal genes, there will probably be an uproar once owners start having their dogs grow wings as well…
We have wood flooring, and I was wondering, if her toys being on this floor, after mopping with commercial cleaners may have a negative effect on her skin allergies and general health.
Simple Green! Completely harmless and non toxic to all pets.
She has a hard time breathing and has relied on childrens allergy medicine and an inhaler for the past week or so, but the problem seems to get no better. Short of giving away my cats, what can I do to make things easier on her?
I am allergic to cats. I have two (both with long hair).
One thing that has helped, in general, is to put cat beds ALL OVER. (PetSmart has some that have little removable cushions. Depending on the material they’re made of they’re washer-friendly or not. My cats love the fleecy material.) My cats will often choose to curl up there, confining lots of fur/dander to the bed itself. This makes cleaning easier.
Here are things that have helped me:
CLEAN (as everyone has said). Good vacuuming. You could try steam cleaning, too…
Brush your cats often. If they have long fur, you might want to try that cheesy-sounding (As Seen on TV) ShedEnder. On a whim, I picked one up at WalMart, and it has removed extra fur from one of my cats like nothing else. (I had no idea my cat’s back was that flat…)
Bathe your cats once a month.
Sharper Image Ionic Breeze (can get one on their site under Auction for cheap).
You can also try:
Allerpet/C (something you put on cats’ fur). I’ve never liked the idea of them licking it off and ingesting it so I don’t bother with it anymore.
Your girlfriend can also get homeopathic pet allergy remedies from the health food store.
Good luck.
Don’t get rid of your cats. Or your girlfriend.
